Founded in 1995, the purpose of the International Institute of Acoustics and Vibration (IIAV) is to advance the science of acoustics and vibration by creating an international scientific society that is responsive to the needs of scientists and engineers in all countries whose primary interests are in the fields of acoustics and vibration. The Institute cooperates with national and international scientific societies with the aim of increasing information exchange by sponsoring, cosponsoring or supporting seminars, congresses and publications. The IIAV organizes an annual International Congress on Sound and Vibration (ICSV), which combines all areas of acoustics, noise and vibration.
